The unique functionalist building of the former electricity companies in Prague posed a real challenge.
About the project
Our team had a very challenging project ahead of them, with many complex details that arose over time and which we could not plan in advance. As this is a listed building, it was necessary to preserve the original appearance of the doors. Among other things, more than 50 doors had to be built into their original frames from the 1930s. This was one of the most difficult tasks, as each piece was unique. However, we also had to consider the modern standards of today's production. The project involved a total of 562 doors, all delivered with installation on location.
We therefore worked closely with the architects to develop special bespoke fittings. These match the original design in appearance, but meet the demanding contemporary requirements with their functionality. Another special feature of this project was the design of an original two-part door frame profile with a curve that respects the historic appearance of the building.
All of this was then complemented by the delivery of the doors, which used the highest quality surfaces, including lacquered and special veneers. Exceptional buildings require exceptional solutions. Thanks to our in-depth technological knowledge and experience, we were able to find solutions consistent with such a unique task.
The result of this sensitive renovation was awarded the "Building of the Year 2021" prize.
