Design with function: PRÜM doors in hotels

Summertime = holiday time. Holidays are possible again and hotels are open again. Atmosphere and design are important factors for feeling comfortable here, but security is also very important. Hotel doors, for example, must not just be attractive, they also have to fulfil many requirements today.

This turns the hotel door into a functional door

Section 7 of the Accommodation Facilities Ordinance (observe the regulations in your own federal state) regulates the properties that functional doors in hotels must fulfil. These include stricter guidelines on fire and smoke protection, as well as sound insulation. In addition, care should be taken during planning to ensure that the doors are burglar-proof.

Doors and frames are elements that complement and round off the room design and complete the style of the building. On the other hand, in addition to these visual criteria, they also have technical and functional properties and must fulfil a wide variety of functions.

Multifunctional all-rounder

However, the requirements in hotels go even further: corridors and various complexes in the buildings are separated by connecting doors. Sound, smoke and fire protection are particularly important here. Glass doors - made of safe laminated glass, of course - also play a role here. They let daylight into dark corridors and make the hallway more inviting.

Wet and damp room doors are in demand in bathrooms and spa areas. In addition to providing the necessary privacy, they offer protection against increased exposure to moisture and humidity and also retain their closing properties. The PRÜM test criteria for quality assurance here include swelling and deformation of the door leaf, corrosion on the fittings and surface damage.

In conference areas, meeting rooms and offices, the hotel doors once again provide a stylish and prestigious ambience and score points not only for their design and fulfilment of fire protection requirements, but above all for their sound insulation properties.

The PRÜM product range includes a variety offunctional doors and frames in a variety of designs, styles and with a wide range of properties - in all standard formats and sizes and, on request, as customised products.
