About the project

While Hamburg was under French rule as a department of Paris between 1806 and 1814, none other than Napoléon resided in the historic quarter where the listed hotel building is located today. Napoléon and his entourage not only left the people of Hamburg chaussees, bellevues and palaces, but also a pinch of the world-famous French savoir-vivre. This attitude to life, translated into modern times, means above all the delightful art of never hurrying. And which creature embodies this art in an exemplary way? Exactly - the tortoise, or in French: la tortue.
