Job cuts at STI Hartchrom in Steinach reduced

Consultation procedure with employees leads to reduced job cuts – 39 redundancies unavoidable – streamlining of organisation and alignment to future market needs

Arbon, 25 November 2013 – STI Hartchrom AG in Steinach is to make 39 job cuts – fewer than originally planned. In the course of the consultation procedure, a large number of constructive suggestions were received from employees. The company is responding to the changed environment with a new lean organisation.

The decrease in sales, particularly in the Print segment, and a general trend of outsourcing to Asia are leading to accelerated restructuring of the Surface Technology Division at AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG. This includes 39 job cuts at the Steinach location. The consultation procedure with employees lasted until 19 November 2013, during which time a large number of suggestions were received. The originally forecast job cuts are being reduced so that sufficient employees are available to implement the measures for aligning STI to future market needs. In order to enhance flexibility and obtain the skills required in the future, the further training of employees is also being stepped up.

This reorganisation will enable STI to adapt its strategic alignment to the market outlook for the coming years and further concentrate its spectrum of technology. It also involves a streamlining of the management structure.
