Arbon, 14 November 2013 – AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG is aligning the group’s structure towards building envelope and interiors. The Building Envelope Division focuses on windows and external doors; the new Building Security Division comprises the Forster Profile Systems Business Unit and the Doors Business Unit with RWD Schlatter AG, a specialist in full-custom doors for interiors. Christoph Schönenberger is to take over as head of operations. EgoKiefer Managing Director Roman Hänggi is to succeed Thomas Gerosa as Head of the Building Envelope Division with effect from 1 July 2014. The former Heating Technology & Sanitary Equipment Division is to become the Building Technology Division. All changes are to be implemented with effect from 1 January 2014.
In the wake of the Board of Directors’ decision to align the group’s structure in keeping with future challenges and train its focus on building envelope and interiors, the former Windows and Doors Division is to become the new Building Envelope Division. The division, which specialises in windows and external doors, will be headed as before by Thomas Gerosa. The Board of Directors has appointed Roman Hänggi, Managing Director of EgoKiefer, as Deputy Head of Division. On 1 July 2014 he will take over as Head of Division from Thomas Gerosa, who is retiring at the end of September 2014.
The new Building Safety & Security Division comprises the Forster Profile Systems Business Unit and the Doors Business Unit with RWD Schlatter AG in Roggwil/TG. The Division and the Profile Systems Business Unit are managed by Christoph Schönenberger (previously Head of the Steel Technology Division).
The former Heating Technology & Sanitary Equipment Division is to become the Building Technology Division, comprising ventilation, control systems and technology. With these decisions the Board of Directors is also implementing the strategic positioning at the organisational level. All three core divisions are geared towards a positioning based on building envelope and interiors. The organisational changes are to take effect from 1 January 2014. According to CEO Daniel Frutig, in expanding the group, AFG remains on course to become the leading building technology group. All units will once again be creating values by 2014.
At the subsidiary Dobroplast, a leading manufacturer of PVC windows in Poland, a new management team has been put in place under Mariusz Witek following the retirement of the previous owners. The new appointment will serve to drive forward the integration in the Building Envelope Division and open up international markets. In keeping with the business plan the division is implementing the creation of a production network of competence centres for wood/aluminium windows in Altstätten (CH) and of PVC windows in Pravenec (SK). Investments amount to around CHF 33 million.
The sale of Forster Precision Steel Tubes to the Mubea group of companies has paved the way for the Forster Profile Systems Business Unit to implement its growth strategy. Early successes are reflected in the sales trend and the takeover of direct distribution in Austria. RWD Schlatter has now moved in to its new production plant and the machinery is to be phased into operation. Investments amount to CHF 30 million. A new generation of doors with integrated ventilation from RWD Schlatter and complete heating ranges including heat pumps at Kermi are also indicative of early successes with a systematic technology and product road-map.
For the time being the Surface Technology Division will remain within AFG along with the AFG Kitchens Business Unit, whose affiliation with the core business is currently under scrutiny.
