Sound insulation - increased requirements

Occasionally, doors are subject to "increased" sound insulation requirements.

These increased requirements apply if they have been contractually agreed and are based on sound insulation values in DIN 4109-5 "Sound insulation in buildings - Part 5: Increased requirements". This standard was last published in August 2020.

If the "normal" requirements apply, 27 dB or 37 dB must be complied with - depending on whether the door leads into a closed corridor or directly into the living area.

If the corridor is only partially open, the 37 dB also applies.

If the increased requirements are to be met, the doors must "perform" 5 dB more in each case:

Rw of entrance door 27 dB'; on the right on a light yellow background only the entrance door labelled 'erf. Rw of the entrance door 37 dB'.
Two schematic floor plans shown side by side: each flat with hallway/corridor and a red door, only partially open. Visible labelling: "Apartment of a multi-storey building", "Hallway corridor", "Hallway/stairwell" and at the bottom "erf. Rw of the entrance door 37 dB".
