POE in practice: what retailers think about it

GARANT_POE

With the online door tool DieTÜR, customers can configure their dream door digitally from over 1 million product combinations.

DieTÜR can be accessed from anywhere in the world, around the clock, and also works on all mobile devices with Android or iOS operating systems. All that is required is access to the internet. With the digital tool, users can configure their doors conveniently on their smartphone, tablet, office screen, smart TV or large screen. They generate a QR code for their desired door and bring their wish list with them to the specialist retailer's showroom for further detailing. At the retailer's POE, the digital clone of the analogue dream door can be experienced. Every possible door variant can be called up and can be seen in a high-resolution screen display on a 1:1 scale.

For some time now, POE systems have also been available at Carl Götz GmbH for some time now. In this interview, Gerhard Kröner, Head of the Construction Elements department and Deputy Branch Manager, explains how the innovative dealer system has been received and how door advice and sales have changed since it was installed.

How is the POE perceived by customers?

POE in practice

At the POE in practice, the DieTÜR configurator provides access to the product range and new products. How do your customers take up this offer?

The offer is very popular, as a brochure is only of limited use. Every building situation and interior is different and the POE helps enormously with visualisation. People often like a door type, but lack an idea of how the doors will fit into the room. That is now history.

How do your customers get on with the application? Can they operate the POE intuitively?

The POE is almost self-explanatory. As we also provide analogue advice, we are already in dialogue with the customer. That's why the POE is on top and we guide the customer through the menu. We want to avoid customers not being able to find things that are important to them due to a lack of knowledge, but then we are happy to let them try things out for themselves.

How are the digital tools changing door advice and door purchasing? Can you now provide better and more comprehensive advice as you can show all conceivable variants true to scale?

We still do a lot of consulting on "real doors", but now have the opportunity to present all variants digitally, which would be impossible to exhibit in such diversity. The true-to-scale digital presentation is in no way inferior to the analogue (physical) presentation.

Digital room visualisation and real door impressions

POE in practice

The "Show door in room" function is a perfect addition to help customers visualise their door in the overall picture with the wall and floor. What is your customers' feedback on this function?

As customers don't deal with doors and floors on a daily basis, they often lack an idea of the possible combinations. This is where the digital presentation of the room, door and floor is very helpful. There are almost no limits to the visualisations and they help customers to make their decision.

At the POE, customers can see the digital clone of an analogue door in high-resolution 4K image quality and on a 1:1 scale. How important are real doors for your consultation?

Real doors or door samples are actually very important. Our customers want to feel the products. And the surfaces feel very different, from veneer, CPL and lacquer to HPL. When you buy wood products, you're not just buying a product, you're buying parts that make the room feel good. But the quality of the presentation comes very close to the original.

Practical persuasion at the POE

Is there a special consulting experience or surprising customer testimonials? What do users particularly like about the POE in practice?

We had customers with their craftsmen in our showroom who selected high-quality doors from a sample element. At the end of the consultation, the customer was "almost" satisfied. But she couldn't imagine the doors with a light cut-out and glazing bar frame. The customer was somewhat overwhelmed by what we and the craftsman take for granted in our day-to-day business. Seeing the door element at the POE with a light cut-out and glazing bar frame then completely convinced her and confirmed her decision. We could go on with similar examples.
