"Open the door and welcome to our new series "Doors around the world"! - With these words, GARANT has launched a series in which we introduce you to doors from other worlds and cultures. Here we tell the stories of other cultures and provide an insight into the exciting world of doors.

As centuries-old relics from times gone by, as ornately decorated entrances to political buildings or as innovative access solutions full of technology - doors are present in our lives every day. They not only fulfil a function, but are also inextricably linked to their surroundings. In our "Doors of the world" series, we tell you just how different all these doors are.

In this blog post, you can browse through all the articles again.

The door in the film

The media world also has a lot to offer when it comes to doors. The door is often a well thought-out element as part of the overall concept. Whether in film or art - there is often much more behind the staging of the door than expected.

We rarely perceive doors as important elements of the plot. Yet doors are often of central importance and often play a leading role as part of the scenery. As portals to other worlds, as a safe place from danger or as part of a larger backdrop, doors become an important element of the plot. In this blog post we present famous examples of doors from films such as the "Harry Potter" series and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Travelling through art with the door

Doors fulfil a key function in our everyday lives. They provide access to buildings, but also protection from intruders. Doors create private spaces for relaxation and intimacy. The door is therefore a significant symbol with many meanings. So it's no wonder that many artists focus on the door in their works. Discover the various stagings of doors in this blog post.
