Why are there lacquered and CPL doors?
There is a suitable door for every need. However, the product selection, additional functions and design options are diverse, which often makes the choice difficult and questions sometimes arise during the decision-making process. We have summarised the most common ones. Perhaps you will find exactly the answer you are looking for here.
What are the differences between the shades of white and what should I look out for?
Different needs, different doors. In households without particularly heavy loads, classic white lacquered doors are usually preferred. The design is always timeless and adapts to any furnishing style. Even those who renovate frequently tend to opt for uncomplicated and timeless lacquered doors.
CPL doors(Continuous Pressure Laminates) are characterised by their greater resistance. They are scratch and abrasion resistant and are easy to clean. The robust doors are particularly suitable for families with small children. Neither heavy impacts nor heavy soiling can harm them.
How do I care for my doors properly?
Not all white is the same: PRÜM's White lacquer and Exclusive white lacquer (9010) surfaces are similar to the muted RAL colour 9010.White lacquer and Exclusive white lacquer (9016) shine in an even brighter white and are based on the RAL colour 9016. This colour looks particularly pure.
PRÜM's environmentally friendly rolling and lacquering process produces a silk matt white lacquer surface that is highly resistant to scratches and dirt and has a pleasant feel. Although the protection of white lacquer doors is not as high as that of CPL doors (Continuous Pressure Laminates), the surface and wood of the lacquered doors remain durable and easy to clean for years.
CPL doors are also available in similar colours, such as RAL colour 9010 and RAL colour 9016. In addition, the robust doors are also available with white decorative foils. Karo White, for example, has subtle check patterns that integrate seamlessly into any furnishing style. Compared to CPL white lacquer, Karo White has a warmer white tone.
Our most robust laminate doors are available in many different shades of white: from platinum to cream to designer white, everything is included. The laminate surface can take on different textures and looks (e.g. high-gloss or matt). Take a look at the differences between the surfaces directly in our door tool directly in our door tool.
The care of PRÜM doors made easy. Our doors are designed to be particularly easy to clean. Normal cleaning of conventional dirt can be carried out using a soft cotton cloth or a damp window leather in combination with a gentle lye solution. For stubborn dirt, special cleaners are available from your specialist dealer that can even get dirty lacquered doors clean again.

Where in the house do I need doors that can do "more"?
Soundproof doors
DIN 4109 specifies the sound insulation values that must be complied with for the ready-to-use door element (door leaf + door frame), even if they are not mentioned in the tender or in the order discussion. A distinction is made between four sound insulation classes (SK1-SK4) depending on the local conditions. PRÜM-SK1, for example, is sufficient for regular office work. However, an entrance door that directly adjoins a living area must have a PRÜM-SK3.
Here you can find out more about how soundproof doors work.
Thermal insulation doors
Thermal insulation in summer prevents rooms from heating up at high temperatures to such an extent that a cosy indoor climate is guaranteed. PRÜM thermal insulation doors even allow you to do without air conditioning and save money. At the same time, the main purpose of winter thermal insulation is to prevent surface condensation and mould growth in normal living conditions. Thermal insulation doors therefore make sense wherever doors separate heated from unheated rooms, such as pantries, rooms with doors to cellar exits or even unheated attics.
Here you can find more background information on the functions of thermal insulation doors.
Burglar-resistant doors
Burglar-resistant doors are used where unauthorised forced entry into a room or area to be protected is to be made more difficult or hindered. Tested burglar-resistant doors are designed to force the perpetrator to abandon the break-in attempt after a certain period of time. Burglar-resistant doors make a lot of sense, especially at the entrance. Depending on the situation, PRÜM offers security doors in three classifications (normal, increased, high).

Damp room doors
These functional doors are used in rooms with very high short-term humidity (up to 100%). They can also be exposed to splash water or condensation flowing down for short periods. Areas of application include hotel rooms, care homes or sanitary blocks where window ventilation is not possible.
Wet room doors
Especially in public shower rooms, baths, bathrooms and saunas in hotels, doors must be able to withstand even more moisture. These wet room doors can also be exposed to dripping water for long periods of time. The water may contain aggressive floor and tile cleaning agents in addition to standard personal hygiene and cleaning products.
Why are there doors with different inner layers?
Solid chipboard panels offer maximum stability and provide the basis for glass cut-outs and increased sound insulation requirements. To produce solid chipboard, mechanically shredded wood chips are mixed with glue. Boards of varying thickness and density are then produced under high pressure in a pressing process.
The tubular chipboard door is a chipboard with tubes running through it and offers the highest surface stability, surface stability and sound insulation in addition to solid chipboard.
A honeycomb insert has a honeycomb structure similar to its natural counterpart. These honeycombs are made of paper or cardboard and are built into the centre section of the door. This results in simple and stable door leaves that also save a lot of material.
